With an abundance of caution and extreme disappointment, this weekend’s Paddlefest 2018, November 9th-11th, will be rescheduled to a future date, yet to be determined. There is too much uncertainty regarding the overall condition of the water where Paddlefest athletes would be racing to ensure their enjoyment and well-being.
The health and safety of the participants are paramount, and the potential that direct, prolonged contact with the water could be less than optimal cannot be chanced. Paddlers are an extended family of sporting enthusiasts who travel the country not just to compete but also to spend the weekend reconnecting with one another. As the Paddlefest organizer and host (and fellow competitor), Paige Bakhaus respects their expenditures of effort, time and resources to travel here. Rescheduling to a future weekend when conditions are not so uncertain better positions her world-class event for peak conditions and safeguards the longevity of Paddlefest in the years to come.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused but know that all stand up paddleboard athletes will understand our decision.
