DescriptionThis is Werner's premier "medium" sized , ultra light all-carbon paddle, which will work great for most paddlers. It is currently cut at exactly 81", which is actually a tad long for me at 6' 1" tall. Also, the T-grip is secured with high grade hot glue, *not expoxy. (Meaning you can easily heat it, remove it, and then cut this paddle shorter as needed).
I used this paddle for racing about 1 year, and it has always been stored in an FCS case when not in use! As a result it's still in nearly mint condition, maybe one tiny chip on the edge of blade (which won't really show up in photo). Only getting rid of because I have plenty of other paddles plus want to order something from QB to mix it up.
The M1000 cost $389 new plus tax. However, just $275 gets you this awesome rig, including an FCS case & full-size paddle box for future storage or shipping! (Also could go $250 for just paddle + box, if you don't need / want a paddle case).
Here are more details from Werner:
"No details were overlooked when designing the Grand Prix. Start with an overall weight of just 15 ounces, and then look at our unique 12 degree shaft to blade offset. Materials and processes were factored in to find the perfect flex for comfort and performance. Our most advanced designs and fit option, we give competitors an edge, so put your race into another gear."
-The volume of the buoyant, carbon, blade creates an exceedingly light feel for effortless and confident strokes.
-Smooth back face and thin ABS reinforced blade edges allows for a quieter catch and effortless exit of the stroke.
-Optimized blade-to-shaft offset at 12 degrees, allows for a more vertical blade position. Keeping you in the power phase longer and helping to clean up your exit.
-Dihedral allows for smooth and stable forward paddling, a core philosophy for Werner.
-Mid-sized blades are an ideal fit for the great majority of average size paddlers.
