One thing I’ve learned from my course racing is to be VERY aggressive. I’m a nice guy so this was hard at first but now I’m taking no prisoners!

love it and will be using it in all races at BOP.

I used to prefer flat water but now it seems like maybe I do better in the surf just because it breaks up the field of competitors. One thing I don’t like about the flat water is that it promotes drafting, which I am not for at all …

Expecting: Elite Racers (men & woman) 160, Open Race – 320, Distance Race 150, Kids – 60 and Relay 225…. lots of growth in the kids race.

The buoy turns are my least favorite part of the whole race. I’m not super aggressive, so it is out of my comfort zone to duke it out with a bunch of people around a buoy.

I’m 5.10 and I run my surf paddle 6″ above and my race paddle 10″ above.. I use our Danny Ching pro-series paddle.. Its 8.5 wide, I don’t think a huge paddle makes much of a difference it just makes me tired!
