Have you changed boards/paddles/equipment since you started? If so, why?

Not much really. It is hard to get equipment in Bermuda. I have been on the same equipment for a long time, and basically added to the quiver only a couple of times, when I graduated from my very first SUP and paddle, made by ATX.

Best piece of SUP advice you’ve ever received?

When I first started paddling in races, I didn’t realize how important the design of the paddle was. It wasn’t until I traded paddles with another buddy during a training session that I realized how light and technologically advanced a paddle could be…and that using a good one was very helpful in terms of improving performance.

Weirdest thing that’s happened to you while paddling?

I’ve only felt seasick once ever while paddling. That was during the inaugural 2016 Devil’s Isle Challenge. I managed not to throw up…but it was close.

Favorite SUP nutrition? (During races/ during a long haul)

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Chocolate milk…or Guinness.

What piece of SUP gear do you wish someone would invent?

A way to transport my SUP and paddle on my moped, which is usually my only form of transportation in Bermuda!

What’s your biggest challenge with SUP?

Finding enough time to train, and balancing SUP time with all the other things I like to do in the ocean.

What is your proudest moment in a SUP race or event?

Winning the 2016 Devil’s Isle Challenge
